I bought this for my son, who's 9 and has ADHD, and it's become an instant favorite in our house. Games are usually a tough sell with him - he tends to check out the moment it's not his turn - but Something's Brewing kept him locked in from start to finish.
I think it's the constant chaos that does it. Because everyone's casting spells and sabotaging each other, he can't zone out waiting for his turn - he has to pay attention to what everyone else is doing, because someone might come after his ingredients next. The 30-minute play time is also perfect. It's long enough to feel like a real game but short enough that he never loses steam, and we usually end up playing two or three rounds back to back.
The cauldron prop was a huge plus too. Having something physical to interact with kept his hands busy and made the whole thing feel like an event rather than "sit still and play cards."
If you've got a kid who struggles to stay focused on board games, this one's worth a shot. We love it.
